Monkey Fun for someone who's ONE

The morning of his birthday, I heard him wake me with the babbles from his crib.  It didn't take me more than a second to go in there and scoop him up into my arms.  I sang "Happy Birthday" to him and I couldn't help but fight back the tears.  My baby has an AGE now.  He is ONE.  As my nephew says, "He isn't Zero anymore".

We got up and spent the morning as usual- cuddles in Mommy & Daddy's bed, playing with the television remote, breakfast, Sid the Science Kid, and playtime.  The only difference was that there were balloons, a few gifts, and extra smiles that morning.  I think he knew.

After getting ready for the day, it was off to Gammy & Grandpa's house for a party!  Both sets of Grandparents were there to love and spoil him.  He played outside, had a BBQ lunch and ate ice cream cake!  He LOVES ice cream.

The next day, we had a BIG birthday party for the little man. The Theme?  Sock Monkey!  What a perfect theme for our Monkey....

Of course, I have been planning for months and months (because that is how I roll...), and the day turned out great!  The weather was nice and warm, all of my baking turned out, and everything went as planned.  Since we had so many coming to the party (and not everyone RSVP'ed) we decided to stick with a dessert table.  This way we wouldn't have to worry about how much food we would need to feed everyone and we wouldn't have to have someone by the BBQ all day...it is a good thing we did it this way as we ended up with almost 70 people!  It sure was a sugar rush!

There were cupcakes, chocolate dipped marshmallows rolled in Skor, brownies, sweet and salty popcorn, banana marshmallows, chocolate malt balls, red gummies, gummy coke bottles, doughnuts, cookies, tootisie rolls, sugar sticks, and CAKE!

We had monkey necklaces and party hats for the kids, and I hand made 57 monkey sugar cookies and wrapped them as favors.

Take a look at this AMAZING cake!  It turned out JUST perfect and I couldn't be happier (and no...I didn't make this one...lol)

I finally got to put together my 52 weeks of KIPTYN!

Here he is!  The Birthday BOY!

We had a ton of fun and he was surrounded by the people he loves most!  We are SO blessed to have had all of our family and friends there to help celebrate with him.

He didn't nap on the day of his party....but he did almost fall asleep in the swing a few times!

Cake time!!!

I bought this vintage high chair off of Kijiji and sanded it down, to paint it red.  Oh how I love it!

And GONE!

He took the LONGEST drink ever when he was finished.  Good job Bug!

Thank you to all of our dear friends who came (and some traveled) to the party.  It will forever be in our memories and one day when Kiptyn looks back at the pictures he will see how very loved he is. It was a fun filled weekend.  People know I like to keep busy, so after the party ended and we packed up, I drove an hour out to the beach for Jessica's Bachelorette Party.  The next day, I helped host her shower.  I'd say we packed that weekend FULL to the BRIM!

I will leave you with a couple of Kiptyn's birthday photos we had done a few weeks before his party.  We used the photos for invitations and for decoration and they are just darling.  Dave did an amazing job on the invite....

Cynthia Bendle (One-12 Photography) has done it again!  An amazing photographer.  Love them!  Have a great week everyone!

The CAKE
(Yeah I made it....lol.  Never done fondant before and it was fun!)

The SMASH

He didn't pause for a second

Ha ha ha...he was slip sliding everywhere!
