The Wheels On The Bus- Kippy's 3rd Birthday!

Hello?
Yes....I lapped myself.  BUT-I'm not giving up.  I want this space to be something my kids can look back on when they are grown and remember all of the good memories we had.  A new year is coming up soon and I am bound and determined to catch up.

These next few (or twenty) posts may be brief or may be just full of photos but I have to start somewhere....so here it is!  Kiptyn turns THREE!

A bus birthday was what he asked for (no surprise there), and a bus birthday is what he got!

We took a bunch of photos at the bus depot down the road...twice.  The first time we got caught in a thunderstorm so we ended up back again a few days later.  Kiptyn didn't seem to mind.  He was in his glory!

Here comes the rain!

Rain means PUDDLES!  And puddles are Kiptyn's specialty

A few days later...

Success!
Now normally I would show you the amazing invitation Dave made...but to dig that up and take out our address etc. at this point in time would take me about an hour....so...in order to push through my blogging catch-up, just know it was pretty awesome

For about three days before the party Kippy "helped" me with the decor.  We had many talks about how all of these buses were going to be going home with his friends and that they were to share....not to stay.  Thank goodness the little pep talks worked!

One of my best finds ever....this pop up bus tent.  They still play with this almost daily and it has been over a year since the party.

We stuck with yellow and black decor and of course had bus crafts on hand

The CAKE!

Fun was had by all...

See these bus shorts?
I ordered them custom on Etsy...and he literally asked to wear them every single day the rest of the summer

He wasn't entirely sure about the sparkler

One blog down....many many more to go!
Happy Birthday Kippy!

Where the Green Grass Grows- Part TWO

Here we GO!

Since we had Kiptyn Baptized on his first Mother's Day, we thought it would be a fun tradition to Baptize each of our children on either their first Mother's Day or Father's Day depending on their gender.

Here she is!

And proud Big Brother!

It is hard waiting around when you are two and there is cake on the table...

Waiting in the church...she put on a show for everyone

She TOTALLY knew the day was all about her!

It was the PERFECT morning!

Since Father's Day was going to be half about Maisy, and half about Dave and our Father's, we decided to do the formal Baptism at the church with a small luncheon at our house after, and then change the decor and our clothing to suit the relaxed and casual type of day that I knew both Dave and our Dads would appreciate.

I wanted to re-do the photo frame I did for Dave when it was Kiptyn's first Father's Day.
It may have taken a while....but we DID IT!
Photos up close

So DOWN came the Peter Rabbit and UP went the Superheros!

 These guys are after all....Superheros.

I bought shirts for us all...and Dave was so happy to get out of his "dressed up attire"

And we partied until the sun went down...

We went on a good hike through the forest one day...something I have wanted to do forever with my family.  Dave and I used to go quite a bit when it was just the two of us and now that Kiptyn was old enough to walk farther than around the block we thought it was time to take him.

Yes....the ponytail...he requested it a lot

Maisy Bird rode in the back and took it all in

Kippy did an awesome job of keeping up

We had lots of swinging time over the river...Maisy was fast asleep!

And over the cliff...

 And over the BIG cliff...

Every time I would look back and see this...my heart melted

These two are besties

Our first family hike was a HUGE success!

We had a little friend named "Al" visit us all the way from Madrid.  Al has been all over the world visiting children and teaching others about different cultures.  The point is not to go or do anything out of the ordinary but just to bring Al with you and snap some photos of your everyday life.  We only had him for a few days as there are many children still waiting for their visit but we sure had fun!

Day One-meeting Al and bringing him to the pool store

Someone was a little bit unsure at first...

Day Two- Brought Al to the local Fire Station to ride the trucks

Day Three- Took Al to the chiropractor...Dr. Jeff gave him an adjustment as well!

Day Four- The last day with Al...

We took him for an evening walk to the pond

We love you Al!  Safe travels!

We try to get to the beach as much as possible during the summer.  I LOVE the beach and hope that my children will always love it as well.  This was Maisy's first time at the beach.

She just sat there and watched the waves roll in.  She was very happy to just stay on the blanket.

Kiptyn however....wanted to explore

It was a fun evening!

We went back a few more times...once just the two of us on our Anniversary...and I even got my hair done that day!

The pirate ship playground is always such a big hit!

We can't wait for more beach adventures!

We had a family reunion as well that hadn't happened for a number of years so it was really nice to travel and see my Dad's side of the family and catch up.  It took place at a beautiful park and the weather was perfect.  I cannot find for the life of me where I put all of the photos on my computer from my good camera...so these ones from my iPhone of just my children will have to do for now...

And SWIMMING!

Since we didn't get home until late that night and the kids slept a bit in the car...we decided to allow them to stay up and have a bonfire with us.  My children have a very early and very strict bedtime every night...this was a lot of fun to share with them...even if only for one day.

Since the previous homeowners took their pool shed and storage shed with them when they moved, we had to replace them right away.  Dave and his "crew" (family and friends who worked day after day for about two weeks straight) took on the HUGE job of building not only a new storage shed, but a pool shed/bar all at the same time.  I have to say, I was AMAZED how BIG the pool shed/bar ended up being!  It is almost done, but this summer we will be finishing up odds and ends as well as putting up the bar swings and decorating.

Pool Bar/Cabana

BIG beams in place...ready to start!

Roof is on....the forecast no longer matters!

Dave left me in charge of getting stain for the inside ceiling and back wall...when I got to the store and realized stain can come in a great number of beautiful colours...not just browns...I went a little wild!

We all agree however...the beachy blues make such an impact!

Walls going up!

I'll have to update you all on this as now we have a fully stained Pool Bar with a beautiful Rad Oak counter top in the front.  We cannot WAIT to get it all finalized with the fun beachy decor I found bought!

Storage Shed

Kiptyn was always eager to lend a helping hand!

Welcome to the back yard!

Once again...I need to add some updates to this as it is now stained and completed!

To end this blog here is a big pile o' pics of other day to day things we were up to!
Shopping at RONA, Lowes, and Home Depot is always a good time.  That is where the good carts are at!

The detist gave Kiptyn a BIG thumbs up!  Kiptyn didn't entirely share the same feelings in return...

Maisy became very good at pulling herself up to stand

She also became VERY good at wanting Mama in the night.  A couple of times this was the only way to get her to fall asleep...and Dave my sweet man captured it on the monitor camera...I love that he thought to take this photo...some nights are hard, but how sweet is my girl?

She's also known as the life of the party!

You sure that's just water in there baby girl?

Watch out!  Crazy driver!

Shoe chomper

Party in the front...

And then there is this sweetie pie

Who got his long surfer locks CHOPPED OFF!

Forever friends these two!

Until next time!  I'm on a ROLL here people!  Maternity leave without a baby has had me pumping these blogs out like crazy!  Onto the next!
